The Vice
Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Prof
Francis Eze, has instituted a panel to assess the worth of the
institution’s property damaged by the students during the students’
unrest inside the university penultimate Friday.
Eze, who disclosed this yesterday while briefing journalists on the
incident, the institution has not introduced any tuition and course
registration fees as alleged by some people and students.
The vice chancellor, accompanied by the Registrar, Mr. John Nnabuihe;
the Deputy Registrar and Coordinator, Information and Public Affairs,
Chike Ezenwa; and some principal officers, Eze said the committee was
mandated to ascertain the actual cost of damaged property and report to
the management to guide it on the next action to take.
According to him, the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) was
the target of the students, regretting that they caused such damage,
despite the level of openness and accessibility he created for any
student to see him ‘one-on-one.’
